Transport and Telecommunication Institute was established in September 1999 as a non-state higher education institution grew itself from the Riga Aviation University (RAU), which replaced the original Aircraft Technical School, founded in 1919. At the moment institute is a modern higher education institution which offered different types of educational programmes (bachelor, master, doctoral and professional programs). In the same time Institute puts big attention to the scientific researches in different application areas. The Institute has participated in the organisation of international conferences, training, seminars and symposiums. The Transport and Telecommunication Institute is an expert in transport systems especially in traffic flow simulation on microscopic and macroscopic levels. These models also include user behaviour modelling. These researches have mostly practical applications and are lead by Professor Igor Kabashkin and Professor Irina Yatskiv. The institute’s expertise is demonstrated by his research works, which covers local, national and European level. For the last 6 years Institute participated in more than 40 projects (local, national and European level.) Most of these projects are connected with transportation and cover different subjects of transportation: as strategically planning, modelling and simulation, forecasting and market analysis. The experts of Transport and Telecommunication Institute taking part in different local, national and European level councils and boards (at example: Transport public council of Riga).

Role in the project:
TTI is involved in all WPs of the project, but main are WP2, WP3 and WP6. Where TTI must provide supporting information for: analysis of present EU research policy, collection and structuring of technical information and supporting innovation network.
